Garden Ornaments in Dundee

What lasts in Dundee gardens

• Salt does more damage than frost here. Salt-laden wind pits bare metal far faster than cold ever will. Stone-effect resin, powder-coated steel and glazed finishes hold up best within a mile or two of the water; rinse exposed pieces with fresh water a couple of times over winter.
• Freeze-thaw is what breaks ornaments. It is not the cold that cracks a piece, it is water expanding inside it overnight and thawing by lunchtime, over and over. Solid resin and cast stone have nowhere for that water to sit.
